Having already signed Timo Werner and Hakim Ziyech from RB Leipzig and Ajax Amsterdam respectively, Chelsea are on the verge of getting their third signing of the season.

No, it’s not Kai Havertz, but Thiago Silva, at least according to Téléfoot Chaîne in France.

Taking to Twitter to announce the news, the TV channel explained the Brazilian defender has ‘given his agreement to Chelsea’, and the player ‘will join the London club’.

They state there are only ‘details to sort out’, but they widely expect his signature to come ‘this week’ at some point.

Adding to this is one of their journalists, Saber Desfarges, who states the centre-back has ‘given his priority’ to the Stamford Bridge side.

Thiago Silva would bring experience to a Chelsea side edging towards the younger side of things under Frank Lampard, and has certainly shown he has one or two more seasons in his legs.

Even if it’s for a short while, getting a player of the Brazilian’s ilk on a free represents a good deal, and it appears to be well on its way.
