Paris Saint Germain midfielder Idrissa Gana Gueye is ‘expected’ at Everton either tonight or tomorrow to finalise his return to Goodison Park.

That’s according to L’Equipe, who say the midfielder will sign a two-year contract with the Blues.

The newspaper reports that the French club have ‘found an agreement’ with Everton after several days of negotiation for the 32-year-old.

The last details of that should be settled this evening or on Wednesday morning, at which point the player will fly to England where a two-year deal, plus the option for another, is waiting for him.

Journalist Fabrice Hawkins backs this up, adding that the player has already said goodbye to his PSG teammates, a further indication the move is imminent.

They add that PSG are expected to earn around €10m from the deal, which is new information as it had previously been thought the deal would be a free transfer.

Indeed, it was this which was holding the situation up, as it was felt PSG did not want to let Gueye leave his current contract for nothing, and Everton did not want to pay.

Perhaps that has now changed and the Toffees, who desperately need a defensive midfielder and have been chasing Gueye for most of the summer, have now relented and decided to pay up.

That remains to be seen and there is every chance the figure may be lower, but either way, Gueye is expected to complete a move sooner rather than later.
