Javi Guerra’s impressive start to the season at Valencia has drawn the attention of several clubs, including Newcastle United.

The midfielder has managed three goals and one assist from six games, and Marca stated on Monday that the Magpies are monitoring him very closely.

This is backed up by Sport, who state Newcastle are one of the Premier League sides to have taken interest in the 20-year-old.

Eddie Howe’s side are following the player, who has ‘exceeded expectations’ with his fine displays for Los Ches.

The Spain U21 international has a deal lasting until 2027, which includes a €100m release clause, and the report states the La Liga side will have to act fast to avoiding losing their young talent ‘prematurely’.

Guerra has been a key player under Rubén Baraja and it’s said discussions have already started at Valencia [between president Layhoon Chan and other executives] about offering him a new deal, to reflect his rise and also the interest he has generated from other clubs like Newcastle.

This report comes a day after local newspaper Super Deporte praised Guerra by stating that he can be ‘whatever he wants to be’, and insisted that it isn’t just ‘hype’.

Newcastle are sniffing around for a future signing and the competition could increase if Guerra continues to impress in the coming months.
