Over the past few days, it appears that Tottenham are losing ground on Liverpool when it comes to the signing of Sofyan Amrabat.

Reports have suggested the competition are making moves to get ahead of Spurs in the race for the Morocco international, who impressed the entire globe with his performances at the World Cup.

Tottenham tried to get ahead of the game some months ago, but never managed to get a deal done with Fiorentina, which has worked out rather well for the Serie A side.

However, despite the Reds seemingly taking the lead over Spurs, with their manager sweet talking him as best he can, many see a move to Merseyside like the wrong one for the player.

One of those former defender Roberto Galbiati, who was asked about Amrabat by Lady Radio, relayed by Fiorentina.it, where he made it clear Tottenham would be a far better destination for the defensive midfielder.

He said: “If a lot of money were to arrive, you can think about it. €40-45m isn’t peanuts. Of course, there are many games to play, very important if not decisive in January… so, for me, a date should be found after which nothing more gets done, sitting at the table with the player.

“His style of playing and his characteristics must also be considered. In the Morocco national team, there is a system that doesn’t exist at Fiorentina. They are different. This aspect should not be underestimated. That is the ideal context for someone like Amrabat, just as Tottenham or Atlético Madrid could be.”

Amrabat played in every single one of his country’s games at the World Cup, totalling an impressive 660 minutes of football, during which he picked up one yellow card.
