Towards the end of last week, Portuguese newspaper Record revealed Arsenal’s intention to sign Ousmane Diomande from Sporting.

Their story said the Gunners would like to offer €60m for the transfer, and would even add some performance bonuses to it.

As Record today features a fresh piece with the potential departures that Sporting will have in the summer, there are actually some good news for Arsenal about their pursuit.

It’s said that Diomande seems to have his days with the Lions ‘counted’, as he’s one of the big candidates to leave the club at the end of the season.

The newspaper claims that even though the player is protected by a €80m release clause, there are clubs willing to offer €60m and that could be enough to take him.

Back in January, Sporting assured their manager Ruben Amorim that no players would leave for less than the clause, but the situation has now changed, and €60m ‘seems to convince’ them to make the sale.

So if Arsenal are actually preparing their bid, there are good chances that will be accepted.

They should just worry about competition, as Chelsea are also said to be interested.
