L’Equipe believe Jose Mourinho wasn’t being straight about Paul Pogba over the past few days.

The French newspaper report Manchester United’s manager was aware his midfielder wouldn’t be available for Sunday’s match against Pep Guardiola’s side, but gave the impression otherwise, trying to keep the information in-house and away from Manchester City.

Pogba’s injury is related to his thigh, explains the report, and was picked up against Juventus in the Champions League.

Mourinho had already spoken about that, and praised his player for continuing in the match despite being aware of the issue.

L’Equipe say this could now impact upon Pogba’s chances of representing France during the current international break.

They explain the World Cup winner is ‘rather pessimistic’ about the situation, and also claim Mourinho gave the same story after his post match press conference.

Pogba will today travel to France’s base for assessment and if it’s determined he’s unable to take part in Didier Deschamps’ latest squad then he’ll be returned to the care of Manchester United.
