On October 10th, we covered a report from Mundo Deportivo, who claimed Liverpool defender Alberto Moreno has emerged as a left-back target for Barcelona in January.

The former Sevilla star’s contract at Anfield runs down at the end of the season and it was claimed the La Liga winners believe they could sign the player for a ‘good price’.

Journalist Miguel Rico, writing for the Catalan newspaper, explains in today’s edition that Barcelona general manager Pep Segura has ruled out the possibility of a new fullback arriving in that position in the mid-season transfer window

Ernesto Valverde’s side decided against strengthening at left back after allowing Lucas Digne to join Everton, and the situation is unlikely to change before the end of this campaign, meaning the option of the Liverpool player joining Barcelona in January is ‘nil’.

There has been no mention whether Moreno was considering  joining the Blaugrana.

Given his contract situation, and the size of the club supposedly interested, he’s not going to ignore it, but according to Mundo Deportivo, nothing would happen until the summer.
