Lukas Nmecha joined Manchester City’s youth system in 2007 and worked his way through to become a professional footballer.

Loans quickly followed, and the 22-year-old has had spells at Preston North End, VfL Wolfsburg, Middlesbrough and Anderlecht.

It’s the most current loan which has been by far the best for the youngster, with him finding the back of the net 16 times for Vincent Kompany’s side this season.

That has inevitably seen Anderlecht build a desire to keep the player on a longer term basis, something Kompany has spoken about more than once in recent weeks. Belgian newspaper HLN report it’s an ‘open secret’ the club want to sign Nmecha permanently, however, they face problems in doing so.

HLN report that if another club in Europe were to propose €20m then Anderlecht would have ‘no chance’ in terms of matching the fee.

As for Manchester City, it’s thought they’re keen on making money on the player this summer, given his contract expires at the end of next season.
