The Belgian media today shares a big update on Sporting’s and West Ham United’s battle for Anderlecht defender Zeno Debast.
Following claims at the weekend that both clubs are chasing the 20-year-old, DH now comes up to say the Lions have placed an offer for the signing.
It’s said that Sporting put over €15m on the table, but Anderlecht have turned it down, as they want more money.
The bad news for West Ham is that DH is showing a little bit of optimism about it, with them claiming the Belgian side are ‘open to discussion’, with the talks going in the ‘right direction’.
The report claims that Sporting’s €15m bid could ‘even reach’ €18m or €20m with bonuses, so any offer to convince Anderlecht would have to be at a higher level.
That should be an alert for West Ham if they’re really keen on this deal, otherwise the player may be on his way to Lisbon soon.
Since it had been said the Hammers were ‘pressuring‘ Anderlecht for the transfer, we’ll see how they’ll react with Sporting bidding first.
As we said earlier, this isn’t one for West Ham to dither over.
