Joe Worrall is set to leave Nottingham Forest and seal a move to Beşiktaş.

On Sunday, Beşiktaş took to X, formerly known as Twitter, to share a picture of the 27-year-old and stated that he’s arrived in Istanbul to carry out the transfer negotiations.

They also said that the Nottingham Forest player watched the Turkish club’s weekend tie against Trabzonspor.

The defender has been restricted to seven appearances in the Premier League this season and hasn’t featured for the Tricky Trees since coming off the bench against Newcastle United on Boxing Day.

Worrall’s deal lasts until 2026 but is set to leave Nuno Espírito Santo for the Black Eagles before the winter market in Turkey closes on February 9th.

Beşiktaş board member and spokesperson, Feyyaz Uçar, spoke to the reporters on Sunday to reveal that his side are close to agreeing a deal with Nottingham Forest for the centre-back.

“Transfer work continues. It’s over in Europe, it continues in our country,” he said, quoted by Hürriyet.

“A player came today. Nottingham Forest’s captain and a leading player. The two clubs are very close to an agreement. There will be an official announcement tomorrow. We will make transfers in that position and other positions if it develops the way we want.”

Uçar hasn’t provided details of the formula through which the Istanbul club are working on to sign the Englishman. With Worrall making a trip to Turkey, the operation should go through, barring a last-minute twist.
