Over the weekend, all kinds of Man United swap deals were claimed by the wilder reaches of the Spanish media.
Cristiano Ronaldo would end up back at Old Trafford (of course) and there was a whole series of deals which would then see David De Gea arrive at Real Madrid.
It all got overly complicated, transfer nonsense doesn’t have to be so tangled.
So on Monday, Don Balon went for something still slightly ridiculous but not involving half of each club’s squad.
It’s claimed Gareth Bale has an offer on the table which he rather likes, and that’s from Manchester United. Real Madrid, so say Don Balon, have been trying to send the Welshman to Liverpool, but he’s not having it… eyeing up Old Trafford instead.
So to make this never ending transfer story come true, Manchester United have offered up Paul Pogba as a sacrificial lamb, much in the same way they did with Henrikh Mkhitaryan for Alexis Sanchez.
Real Madrid aren’t so sure, so this one can rumble on.
