It’s now the Italian media who report that Chelsea are about to complete the signing of Nicolas Jackson from Villarreal.

TuttoMercatoWeb writes ‘now it’s a reality’ that the 22-year-old will be on his way to the Stamford Bridge this summer.

According to their story, the deal ‘is on its way’, as the player ‘will soon join’ Chelsea’s squad.

Back on Wednesday evening, we had already covered claims from Spain claiming Jackson’s departure from Villarreal was ‘imminent’.

The clubs have it well clear that Chelsea are willing to pay for something close to the player’s release clause, and what they now seem to be discussing is the payment method.

Villarreal were just said to be thinking whether to ask the Blues to pay it all at once, or request a percentage on a future transfer, but that doesn’t sound like a big problem, as there’s confidence the clubs will get to an agreement soon.

Featuring for Villarreal last season, Jackson had 13 goals and five assists in 38 appearances.

His €35m release clause is very close to his Transfermarkt value, which currently stands at €30m.
