Matthieu Louis-Jean is doing well in his career after professional football.

In fact, he’s doing very well.

The now 43 year old played around 200 games for Nottingham Forest, having arrived, initially on loan, from Le Havre in 1998.

He was with the club until 2005, when he left for Norwich City as part of the transfer which saw Gary Holt move to Nottingham Forest.

The right back had a torrid time at Norwich and was released by the club in 2007, which was to be the end of his professional career.

And that’s when he planned his new career as a talent spotter.

Friday’s edition of L’Equipe reports he’s left a role at Manchester United, who he’d been watching French football for since 2016.

There’s not a lot of places to go which would be better, but L’Equipe say he’s moved up the ladder and has this week been appointed Head of Recruitment at Nice.

Former Arsenal player Gilles Grimandi has been taken on as the club’s technical director, and appointing Louis-Jean was his first move.

For the former Nottingham Forest player it’s a great chance to further prove himself, at a club with big ambitions in Ligue 1.
