Earlier this week, we saw Brazilian journalist Jorge Nicola bringing details on the ‘unusual’ offer that Nottingham Forest made to sign Danilo from Palmeiras.

It was claimed that to avoid paying for the transfer now, the Reds wanted the player on a loan deal and an obligatory buying clause once he makes three appearances for the club.

It turns out this information is now backed up by Paulo Vinícius Coelho, a very reliable journalist in Brazil, who on Globo Esporte, speaks a little more about this situation.

He claims that by trying to ‘dribble’ the Financial Fair Play, Nottingham Forest got the transfer delayed, as any chance of a loan with purchase is ‘ruled out’ by Palmeiras.

That setback theoretically places the player closer to Monaco, who are also offering around €20m for the signing. However, the Reds still have a couple of advantages in the race.

The first is that the Premier League market is said to be more attractive for the player. Then there’s also the presence of Gustavo Scarpa, Danilo’s former teammate at Palmeiras, and Renan Lodi in the squad.

That’s why Nottingham Forest are still said to have some ‘favouritism’, as long as they improve their payment conditions. In that case, it’s said the sale could be made ‘quickly’.
