Nottingham Forest are considering a move for Beşiktaş’ Romain Saïss in the last days of the winter market.

The Morocco international spent six years at Wolves before leaving them as a free agent to join the Black Eagles last summer. He has been a regular and also impressed for them this season.

The defender was vital in his country’s good run at the World Cup, where they made it to the semi-final. His form for Morocco and Beşiktaş have seen other clubs take notice.

Fanatik journalist Gökmen Özcan took to Twitter to explain that there are three clubs, including Nottingham Forest, in the picture to sign the 32-year-old this month. He adds the Tricky Trees have even ‘contacted’ the Turkish club to ask about signing the player.

Saïss has a contract until 2024 and his club have an option to extend it by a year. Beşiktaş have told Steve Cooper’s side and the two other unnamed clubs they are not interested in letting the centre-back leave in January.

However, having signed the player as a free agent from Wolves, should Nottingham Forest put an offer in there’ll surely be some temptation.
