Atalanta defender Merih Demiral has been subject to late interest from Nottingham Forest in the winter market, according to a report from Italy.

The Tricky Trees turned to the Serie A side to sign Remo Freuler last summer. Earlier in the January window, they made an attempt for Duván Zapata, but were unsuccessful.

This is pointed out by Tutto Atalanta, who then mention Nottingham Forest are trying to sign Demiral on deadline day.

It’s said the Turkey international has been ‘aggressively approached’ by Steve Cooper’s side in the last few hours. He is also on Inter Milan’s radar as they have identified him as a target to replace Milan Škriniar, who is wanted by Paris Saint-Germain.

Tutto Atalanta’s title states a ‘monstrous offer is ready’ from Nottingham Forest. Within the report, it’s said the Premier League club are ready to present a proposal of €26m plus bonuses to Gian Piero Gasperini’s side for the ex-Juventus man.

There’s no mention whether Atalanta have plans to sell the centre-back or if he is open to joining Nottingham Forest in January.
