Manuel Pellegrini was relieved of his duties at West Ham in December, and has since been linked with several other roles.
Since taking over at the Hammers, David Moyes has faced similar problems and struggled to find a consistency of performance, with West Ham currently sitting in 16th position, out of the relegation zone thanks to goal difference.
Pellegrini was recently linked with Valencia, with claims coming from Chile of the club making contact. The manager was said to be unsure whether he wanted the job, aware that Valencia fans are unhappy with the ownership of the current club, something he’d experienced at West Ham.
Valencia then denied those claims, but it was to be expected. They’re hardly going to admit talking to other managers, and especially one who is unsure of the role because of club ownership problems.
There’s been talk in Chile that he could potentially manage the national team, however, that’s not something he’s keen on right now.
CNN Chile quote Pellegrini as saying: “When the race throws me away, that is, when I don’t find a club that interests me, I will return to Chile.
“I want to deliver all my experience to Chilean football through the national team leadership, but it is not the time yet.”
A job in La Liga continues to look a realistic prospect.
