On February 18th, we covered Xherdan Shaqiri’s interview with German outlet Sport1, where he explained how Jurgen Klopp convinced him to join Liverpool.

Before the start of this campaign, the Swiss international arrived at the Merseyside club from Stoke City, after the Potters were relegated from the Premier League.

Sport1 have now published the second part of the interview with the former Bayern Munich man as the Bavarian club take on the Reds in the Champions League.

The 27-year-old came up through the ranks of FC Basel’s youth system before breaking into their first team in 2009.

Shaqiri has admitted that he would like to return to the Swiss club in the future, while he’s also opened the door for a move to either Major League Soccer or the Chinese Super League.

When asked where he would like to end his career, the Liverpool player said: “I leave that completely open at the moment. But sure, it would be nice to return home to FC Basel. That would be a special matter for me.”

“But I don’t rule out going to America or China. I love getting to know new countries and cultures. But it is definitely a dream to return to Basel again.”

China also brings another benefit, lots and lots of lovely money.
