Bayer Leverkusen star Exequiel Palacios has ended up on Aston Villa’s agenda, according to this week’s edition of SportBild.

The Bundesliga side are currently leading the table and the defensive midfielder has been one of the key figures under Xabi Alonso this season, managing three goals and two assists from 17 league games. He also has two goals in the DFB-Pokal.

As a result, the 25-year-old is receiving attention from English clubs.

The Villans are the only Premier League side named in the report and they are keeping close tabs on him. It’s further claimed they are ‘vying’ to sign the Argentina international.

Aston Villa have already done business with the German club in the past few years. They first signed Leon Bailey in 2021 before bringing in Moussa Diaby last summer.

Unai Emery’s side can use old contacts to help sign the World Cup winner, who extended his contract [until 2028] last September.

SportBild state Bayer Leverkusen’s pain threshold is ‘not less than €60m’, meaning that’s the fee Aston Villa have to offer to sign Palacios.
