Over the coming months, it’s no secret that Newcastle United are going to be linked with a number of players, with some being bigger names than others.

While the Magpies will undoubtedly sign the odd star here and there, the process to build a squad capable of competing for the top will also include smarter moves that might not be as exciting at first but could prove shrewd in the long run.

One of those could be that of Ludovic Blas, currently star of the show at Nantes, and also of interest to West Ham United.

The attacking midfielder has scored 12 goals in 32 appearances in all competitions this season, as well as picking up two assists, showcasing just how good he can be further up the pitch.

While he isn’t a striker, which is what West Ham sorely need, he can contribute with a decent number of goals with the way he plays, which Newcastle also won’t be too unhappy about.

The interest is reported by Italian journalist Rudy Galetti, who explains the player ‘could leave Nantes in the summer’.

He then adds that both Newcastle and West Ham ‘are interested in the player’, with the Ligue 1 side currently evaluating their star at ‘around €20m’.

Something to think about, because he’s the kind of player who could add strength in depth to either the Hammers or their Tyneside competition, and wouldn’t break the bank in the process.
