Borussia Dortmund may have hinted at their plans for tonight’s clash for Newcastle United with a ‘surprise’ in their squad for the game.

That’s according to BILD, who say the inclusion of youngster Hendry Blank may hint at Edin Terzic’s plan for the clash at St James Park.

The newspaper reveals that Blank is set to be a part of the squad for the clash with Newcastle this evening, despite having played against the Magpies in a 2-1 win for the Germans in the Youth League today.

The 19-year-old is only set to appear on the bench for now, having recently been praised by head coach despite only appearing in the third division for Dortmund this season.

The German side consider him a defensive gem, capable of playing at centre-back and left-back and BILD speculate it is that versatility which may have led to him being included.

They say the ‘surprising nomination’ could be an indication that Niklas Süle could be starting the game at right-back after the loss of Julian Ryerson before the game.

They believe Terzic would like to have a reserve option for the centre-back spot on the bench and, having moved Niklas Süle across, would therefore have decided to call on Blank.

Whether he actually features against Newcastle remains to be seen but his inclusion in the squad could be an early indicator of how Terzic plans to line up and something for Eddie Howe to take advantage of.
