Newcastle United are one of the many clubs trying to sign Marcos Llorente from Real Madrid, according to reports from Spain this Tuesday.

AS claims the Magpies are alongside Deportivo La Coruña in the race for the midfielder, while Betis and Alaves have also tried to get him.

The idea would be to bring Llorente on a loan deal until the end of the season, and since he hasn’t been much used in the Spanish capital, Real Madrid wouldn’t be against the move.

Problem is that both the player and manager Zinedine Zidane are not favourable to ‘opening the exit door’, so they would still need to be convinced.

Even though AS doesn’t have any info on how advanced things are with Newcastle United, there’s still some expectation a deal for the player could be found before the end of the transfer window.

Llorente has made only 11 appearances for Real Madrid this season, which isn’t terrible, and could be why he’d rather stick around than move to Newcastle United or elsewhere.
