Newcastle United remain in the race for Real Valladolid fullback Ivan Fresneda, according to reports.

An update on the battle for his signing now gets an update from Italian journalist Gianluca Di Marzio, who shared some information with Sky Sport 24 (via Milan News).

It’s claimed that AC Milan are ‘very interested’ in the signing, as they ‘follow him carefully’ and are the strongest Italian club in the race.

However, besides the competition from other Serie A sides, the Rossoneri should watch out for Newcastle, Arsenal and Borussia Dortmund, who had already looked for the player in January and could now compete in the summer.

The report doesn’t say how much Real Valladolid are demanding for the transfer, although the number of interested sides should certainly bring those numbers up.

Earlier this month, we covered reports from the Italian media claiming it should take around €25m to sign him from the La Liga side this summer.

Newcastle have indeed been linked to him since January, and the end of that transfer window did not stop the Magpies from being named in the race for the 18-year-old.
