Newcastle United are a little behind in the race for Juventus defender Gleison Bremer, according to claims from Italy.
Calcio Mercato today features a fresh story on the centre-back’s future, pointing out he’s wanted by a few European sides.
One of them is said to be Newcastle, along with Manchester United and Atletico Madrid, and it’s really the St. James’ Park side that seem to have some disadvantage.
It’s said that the Magpies are ‘lagging behind’, possibly because of Bremer’s view of that move, but are still ‘ready for the summer push’.
Bremer has a release clause at Juventus which stands between €60m and €70m. Calcio Mercato explains it can only be officially triggered in 2025, but there’s an agreement between club and player that he can go for that amount, as long as he wants to.
So it seems that besides reaching that price, Newcastle also need to do some convincing work to bring the defender to the club. Perhaps their best shot is if Atletico Madrid and Manchester United do not put the same amount of money on the table.
