Now it’s time for us to see Newcastle United involved in these rumours, with the Magpies reportedly interested in signing him this summer.
The information comes from South America, where Win Sports journalist Diego Rueda brings some updates on the midfielder’s situation.
He says that it’s ‘certain’ the interest is not only from Milan, but also from Newcastle. The negotiations for his departure from Russian side Zenit are said to be ‘advancing’.
There’s no information on which club is closer on signing the 26-year-old, or even if there are bids on the table for his move.
Barrios used to get more linked to Premier League sides when standing out for Boca Juniors. He ended up moving to Zenit on a €15m deal in January 2019, and has a contract with the Russian side until 2023.
