With Marseille supposedly interested in Newcastle’s Aleksandar Mitrovic and Fulham after Dwight Gayle, it isn’t a surprise to see Newcastle looking around Europe for a new forward.

One of the names that has appeared over the past 24 hours is apparently M’Baye Niang, who spent last season on loan from AC Milan at Watford.

According to Gazzetta dello Sport, Newcastle, who have followed the youngster since 2013, enquired about the 22-year-old on Wednesday, but the answer they got wasn’t the one they wanted.

The Italian newspaper state the player, who already turned down a move to Everton earlier this summer, politely declined the chance to team up with Rafa Benitez this season, putting all his eggs in the Torino basket.

The Serie A side are said to be the only club the France U21 international wants, and it seems his rather mediocre time at Vicarage Road has put him off from the Premier League for the time being.

We’ve got a feeling Niang won’t be the only forward linked with a move to St James’ Park this transfer deadline day.
