With a chance to start in Brazil’s match against Bolivia last night, Newcastle United midfielder Bruno Guimarães left a very good impression.

Despite the difficulty of playing in La Paz’s altitude, the 24-year-old did great, and even scored a beautiful goal in the 4-0 win.

Now as the Newcastle’s January signing gets lots of praise from the Brazilian media, there are already those who believe that despite his few caps for the national team, he already deserves a place in the 2022 World Cup.

Globo Esporte journalist Carlos Eduardo Mansur today features a column where he highlights how good Bruno Guimarães has been, pointing out all the qualities the player has been showing lately.

“It is not possible to say that Bruno Guimarães will be a starter in the World Cup. But each time he enters, he offers good arguments to at least be Fred’s backup in midfield,” says Mansur.

“Because he brings together important virtues for the team’s game model. He’s a midfielder capable of playing from one box to another, from the start of construction to infiltrating the rival defence. For the third game in a row, he gave an assist, in the great move that resulted in Paquetá’s goal. And he scored with a great finish in the second half.”

Brazil did not play with the most complete team against Bolivia, and that’s why the 4-0 win was seen as a huge statement from those on the pitch.

That’s why that test is believed to be a game changer for the Newcastle star and his fellow teammates who impressed.

“Brazil took a walk, being far superior in La Paz against a much inferior rival. And, even so, it is quite possible that the match will be remembered for the definitive affirmation of two candidates for places: Bruno Guimarães and Richarlison left La Paz even stronger.”
