The Turkish media today shares a quite strong story about Newcastle United defender Jamaal Lascelles.

Following the recent claims saying Besiktas are interested in the player, Fotospor comes up to say he’s actually ‘using’ that chase to get a new contract with the Magpies.

Lascelles’ contract with Newcastle expires at the end of the season, and it’s said that his actual desire is to stay at St. James’ Park.

Fotospor writes that the player is ‘trying to force’ the club management to give him a new deal. He also reportedly told them that he would be looking for a new adventure in case his contract isn’t renewed.

Besiktas’ interest in Lascelles seems pretty solid, as reports from the Turkish media this week claimed that their vice-president took a private jet to England to get the signing done.

It was said they already have an agreement with the player, and would now seek a deal with Newcastle, as Eddie Howe maintains a stance of wanting to keep him around.

Now it seems the player doesn’t really want to go, and will do everything possible to get a new contract from the Magpies, unless he doesn’t, in which case a move to Besiktas could be very enticing.
