Back at the start of the year, when it seemed like Paulo Dybala would soon been leaving Roma, Newcastle United were pointed out as one of the potential destinations for him.

It had been claimed that the player could be signed for as little as €12m due to a clause to foreign sides, and the Magpies were one of the clubs who were interested in his signing.

But it tuns out that Dybala’s situation at Roma had a drastic change, and according to a report from Calciomercato today, the Newcastle target may stay where it is.

It’s claimed that the striker’s agent was at the Stadio Olimpico at the weekend, and the club look forward to removing that release clause from his contract.

With the intention to raise his salary from €4.5m to €6m, Roma could offer him even more in case the clause is ‘eliminated’.

Dybala’s stay at Roma is said to be related to two conditions: the stay of José Mourinho and a place in the Champions League.

That’s what would convince him not to change clubs this summer.

Meanwhile, if Newcastle are really interested, they therefore must trigger that clause before the player decides to renew his contract.
