It appears the City Group, helmed by Manchester City, are trying to once again beat competition to the signing of a youngster in South America.

This time around, it’s a young Ecuadorian forward named Allen Obando, who is currently under contract at Barcelona di Guayaquil.

That’s according to TuttoMercatoWeb, who claim the group who own Manchester City have made a $2m bid for the 16-year-old.

Now, whether the player would go straight to the Etihad or to one of the other clubs, such as Girona or Palermo in Italy, remains to be seen.

Regarding the latter, they could certainly be a destination for him, especially since clubs in Italy, such as Fiorentina, Napoli and Torino have all also set their sights on Obando.

Either way, the Manchester City owners are trying their best to continue their quest of acquiring young talent early to then develop and either sell on or integrate into their teams.

Whether Obando is the next, though, depends on whether the player also sees himself joining the group, knowing he could one day play in the Premier League if he develops as well as many expect him to.
