Heavily linked with Matías Soulé prior to the January transfer window, talk of a move Newcastle United went a bit quiet during the actual month.

However, the Magpies never went away, travelling to watch the young Argentine in February, suggesting any move for the Juventus loanee was always going to take place in the summer.

Gazzetta dello Sport bring Newcastle back into the fold on Friday, as they look at how the Serie A side can fund their move for Teun Koopmeiners.

One of the easy ways for them to make money is by selling the 20-year-old, as the Magpies, alongside Crystal Palace and Southampton, have been following him ‘for months’.

With the Dutch midfielder likely to cost upwards of €55m, the belief is the €35m of those could be made from Soulé’s sale.

This is a price tag that has been consistent throughout, as Newcastle were told about this a number of times in the past.

Soulé has been in fine form for Frosinone on loan, scoring 10 goals and providing two assists in all competitions to date, doing so over 27 appearances.

He also rejected a move to Saudi Arabia in the summer, and it’s made clear that he ‘wants to stay in Europe’ to continue his career, giving a bit of a boost to Newcastle in the process.
