As Newcastle United continue to be linked to several players around the world, there’s now a report about their interest in Flamengo midfielder João Gomes.

That’s claimed by journalist Rudy Galetti, who highlights the Magpies’ plan to ‘strengthen the midfield’.

It’s said that among the names who Newcastle have been watching, as they’d like a signing for that sector ‘as early as January’ if possible, there’s the one of João Gomes.

For now, there’s no information if the Magpies have already placed a bid for the Brazilian, or even if they’re in any kind of advanced contacts for the signing.

João Gomes is undoubtedly one of the players showing the biggest potential in Brazil lately, having won the Copa Libertadores title for Flamengo last year, and was already linked to the likes of Liverpool and Manchester United in the past few months.

But with Newcastle being linked to so many players since the takeover, we start wondering which of those rumours are true, especially because there’s an impressive number of Brazilian youngsters who have been said to be wanted by the Premier League side without much happening around them.
