Newcastle United have ended talks with Paris Saint Germain defender Stanley N’Soki after failing to come to an agreement with the player.
That’s according to RMC Sport journalist Loic Tamzi, who reported the news via his Twitter account this afternoon.
The Magpies have spent the last week adding to their squad, with Allan Saint-Maximin and Jetro Willems both arriving.
They were hoping that N’Soki would become their fourth signing of this window and have been pushing to get a deal done for him all summer although it has recently looked like it wouldn’t happen.
Fin des discussions pour Stanley N'Soki à Newcastle. Malgré un accord avec le #PSG, le club anglais n'a pas trouvé d'accord avec le joueur. D'autres pistes pour le défenseur #Mercato #RMCSport

That appears to have happened with Tanzi reporting that while Newcastle had an agreement in place with PSG, they couldn’t find a deal with the player. According to the journalist, the player has other options to explore instead.
Throughout the negotiations, it’s been made clear that they were struggling to come to an agreement with him. There were also reports he’d turned the Magpies down anyway.
As with any club, it’s never a good idea to sign a player who doesn’t want to be there in the first place, so perhaps this is a blessing in disguise for Newcastle this time around.
Willems does want to be there, and that’s the first battle won.
