CA Vélez Sarsfield’s Máximo Perrone has ended up in the sights of Newcastle United.

This information has been provided by journalist Agustin Sileo, who covers the Argentine club. He discussed the situation on Vélez y Su Mundo.

According to Sileo, Newcastle ‘come with everything’ to sign the 19-year-old. He adds the offer from the Premier League side ‘will arrive in the next few days’, after which, the ‘negotiations will begin’.

Operating mainly as a defensive midfielder, Perrone has scored three goals and registered two assists from 33 matches in all competitions. His displays for the South American club seem to have convinced the Magpies.

The Argentina U20 international’s contract with his current club will run down in December 2023. The deal also includes a release clause of €8m.

In another tweet from Vélez y Su Mundo, Sileo provided more information about the fee Vélez could earn from the teenager’s potential sale.

The journalist states the Argentine side will ‘initiate negotiations’ with Newcastle for a fee ‘greater’ than his buyout clause. Both Perrone and his representative, Roly Zárate, do not want to exercise the release clause.
