Wolverhampton Wanderers’ Fábio Silva joined Anderlecht on a season-long loan deal in the summer window.

The striker’s decision to join the Belgian club has paid off as he has starred for them this term, scoring nine goals and registering three assists from 26 matches.

Voetbalkrant state the Wolves owned man’s ‘outburst’ after being substituted in his side’s goalless draw against Royal Antwerp on November 6th has ‘scared many people’.

The concern around the 20-year-old’s latest ‘outburst’ is now put to bed by Anderlecht interim manager, Robin Veldman. He has been in charge of the club since the Jupiler Pro League side sacked Felice Mazzù last month.

“I spoke to him on Monday, and he assured me that his reaction was certainly not aimed at the coaching staff or me personally,” Veldman said, as quoted by Voetbalkrant.

“He was disappointed with his own performance. He did not shoot on target throughout the game and that frustrated him. But I did indicate that it was not the right reaction and that we do not expect that from him. That concludes the story.”

The Anderlecht interim manager then went on to detail the work done behind the scenes to further improve the Portugal U21 international’s game.

“He’s a young striker who really wants to score goals. From his Portuguese background, he wants to be close to the ball,” he explained.

“But we showed him with video footage that we also have other guys who can get the ball to him. Indeed, he has to stay in position more. When we play forward, he should be in a scoring position and not on the wing. We are working hard on it, but he is still trying to find his correct positioning on the pitch.”

Silva’s form for Anderlecht has led to reports that Wolves plan to recall him in the winter market.

Two days ago, La Dernière Heure reported the frontman has a ‘real option’ to return to Molineux in January. That’s because the new Wolves manager, Julen Lopetegui, has set his sights on having Silva at his disposal in the second half of this season.
