Despite their strong attempts to sign Stanley N’Soki from Paris Saint-Germain, Newcastle weren’t able to convince the 19-year-old to move to St James’ Park.

On Wednesday, GFFN reported the left-footed centre-back, who can also play as a left-back, rejected the Magpies’ offer, and it appears Rafa Benitez’s side have moved on to the next player on their list.

That man is Valenciennes’ Sikou Niakaté, who also happens to be 19 and a left-footed centre-back who can play at left-back.

According to RMC Sport, these talks have gone a lot smoother, as the youngster has agreed terms with Newcastle, and all that’s left to do is for the two clubs to agree on a fee.

The French outlet believe that should be somewhere around €3m, but with just over 24 hours to go in the Premier League transfer window, Niakaté’s entourage are reportedly worried, simply hoping this gets sorted quickly .

Now is not the time to squabble over a few pennies.
