Birmingham City’s Jordan James was repeatedly linked with a move to Atalanta in the winter market but no deal took shape in the end after the Championship side reportedly requested more money for the midfielder.

Last Wednesday, Gazzetta dello Sport stated the Serie A side are still looking at the 19-year-old, but this was dismissed by Tutto Atalanta two days later, and they even stated it’s almost certain he won’t join La Dea.

This would please the Birmingham City star’s new interested party, Bologna.

According to Il Resto del Carlino, relayed by TuttoMercatoWeb, Thiago Motta’s side would be interested in the Wales international.

It’s claimed they see him as an ‘ideal profile’ to replace Lewis Ferguson, if the latter were to be sold in the summer.

The Scot has already been linked to a few clubs but the report states the Serie A side will try to retain him by offering an extension, but if they fail, they could replace him with the Birmingham City player.

James has scored eight goals from 41 games this season and his current deal lasts until 2025, with the Blues having an option to extend it for another year.

Apart from the Welshman, Luzern’s Ardon Jashari is also liked by Bologna for the midfield.
