Brentford took Christian Nørgaard from Fiorentina in 2019 and he’s been a regular for the Bees, whenever available for selection.
The midfielder spent most of last season away from the pitch due to an ankle injury. He ended up making 17 league appearances in a campaign that saw them achieve promotion to the Premier League.
Nørgaard has been a regular for Thomas Frank’s side this term, managing three goals and three assists from 34 league starts. His fine form saw Brentford reward him with a new deal on January 1st.
The Denmark international’s contract with the Premier League side runs down in 2025, with the latter having an option to extend it by a year. The time left on his current deal hasn’t stopped the player receiving interest from other clubs.
“Yes, there has been a bit of everything, without me mentioning some clubs by name. And you should never say never in the football world. I have also found out,” he told Tipsbladet.
“You cannot predict what will happen in hectic transfer windows and what else it might be. The enquiries there’s been on me, I have not considered seriously or concretely.”
The 28-year-old refused to reveal the details of the clubs that have shown interest in him. Although he confirmed the interest, the player stressed his focus remains on Brentford.
“The focus is 100 percent here at Brentford, and as I said earlier, there is no place I would rather be than here. It’s a club that’s working to get better and I think we can take the next step next season,” Nørgaard explained.
“Specifically, I think there are a lot of things that point to me also playing at Brentford on the other side of the summer break.”
