Newcastle United have made a proposal to Liverpool striker Divock Origi, according to reports.
The Belgium international has less than two months left on his contract at Anfield and is likely to leave the Reds as a free agent after this season.
Over the past few weeks, various reports have pushed forward AC Milan to be his next destination. They are joined by Newcastle United and a few other clubs in the chase for the 27-year-old’s signature.
That’s according to Calciomercato, who explain the former Lille man had proposals from clubs in Germany and England, including from the ‘wealthy’ Magpies.
However, Origi ‘said no to the offers’ from these clubs because he gave his word to Paolo Maldini, the Serie A side’s chief. He is now expected to arrive at the San Siro as a free agent in the summer window.
The website further explains the Liverpool frontman ‘will be a Milan player’ in the coming weeks. His signing is expected to be sealed after the Reds’ Champions League final against Real Madrid on May 28th.
After rejecting Newcastle and a few other sides, Origi will sign a four-year deal with Milan that will include a salary worth €4m per year, a figure likely to be after tax.
