ESPN Brasil had this week a conversation with Brighton & Hove Albion striker João Pedro.
The player was with the U-23 squad when he spoke to the outlet, and it seems they held that story to use it now and promote the Seagulls’ clash against Manchester United tomorrow.
João Pedro talked a little about being Brazil’s number 10, as he’s expected to be one of the stars who will be playing the Paris Olympics next year.
“As everyone knows, great players have passed through. To be able to represent the U23s here in the number 10 shirt is an inexplicable feeling. It’s all about moving on, continuing this pre-Olympic start,” João Pedro told ESPN.
“Thank God I had a good pre-season, I scored against Chelsea. In the Premier League I made my debut against Luton Town with a goal. It’s about keeping the momentum going so I can come back here more often.”
The player also claimed he has big expectations at the club, hoping they can keep up with their evolution.
“Brighton had an excellent season last year. This year we have to work hard to do well in the Europa League, do well in the Premier League and get a place in the Champions League.”
Brighton spent €34.2m to sign João Pedro from Watford this summer. He has taken part in all of the Seagulls matches this season so far, but only really scored in the debut against Luton.
Brazil U23 were supposed to play two friendlies against Morocco in this international break. João Pedro only had seven minutes in the first game, and the second match ended up getting cancelled because of an earthquake in the African country.
