The Italian media today discusses the ‘threat’ that Liverpool could become in Napoli’s attempt to renew Khvicha Kvaratskhelia’s contract.

Those claims are made by market expert Luca Marchetti on Sky, and relayed by Sport Napoli. There, he explained that despite being a star at the Serie A side, the winger still has a low salary, and that should be a priority for the Italian club to sort.

That’s where Liverpool come in, because as the Reds reportedly see Kvaratskhelia as a potential replacement for Mohamed Salah, they could end up paying the Napoli player something similar to what the Egyptian star currently earns.

“If Liverpool come in, and there has been talk recently, while selling Momo Salah, what would be done? Salah, at Liverpool, certainly doesn’t earn €3m/year… You have to protect Kvara and show him due recognition,” said Marchetti.

Kvaratskhelia has been heavily linked to a move out of Napoli this summer, but the Serie A champions ended up putting a great effort to hold their stars for another season.

His contract with the Italian club only expires in 2027, but this interest from Liverpool and others is the main reason why the club want to give him a new deal with a pay raise.

Napoli only spent €13.3m to sign him in 2022, and he’s now valued by Transfermarkt at €85m.
