Just when you thought Joao Mario to Wolverhampton Wanderers was about to disappear, it pops back up, taunting you with its eight remaining lives.

Gazzetta dello Sport are the culprits this time around, explaining the Portugal international ‘remains in the sight’ of the newly promoted Premier League club.

Despite weeks of Wolves being allegedly keen in the midfielder, no bid was ever placed, feeling like Nuno Espirito Santo’s side were being used to hype up the Inter man ahead of a potential move.

A bit like: “You see, if Molineux is an adequate place for a 25-year-old midfielder to rekindle his career, why couldn’t your stadium provide the same safe space? He can’t be that bad, right? He plays for Inter, after all.”

It certainly worked, since, soon after, Sporting CP and Real Betis (who have just signed William Carvalho) were said to be interested, and we thought that was the end of Joao Mario to Wolves.

However, the fact neither of the two new clubs have made moves, the need for Wolverhampton to be mentioned remains.

That’s how we see it, anyways.
