There will be a sigh of relief from the Catalan media when Eric Garcia to Barcelona is finally confirmed.

That’s not because they’ll be calm about the player’s future, there’s already a certainty he’ll end up at the Camp Nou, but more so that they won’t have to write any more stories about his move.

Tuesday’s edition of Mundo Deportivo reports Barcelona are ‘in the final sprint’ to sign the defender, but it’s been that way for months. There’s going to be a meeting this week to get the final details over the line, bringing to an end a saga which has been ‘brewing since last summer’.

Still, somehow, to be resolved is the signing-on bonuses Garcia will get, considering he’s arriving as a free agent, and the commissions his agents will receive.

Garcia’s determination to return to Barcelona is again said to have been the great lever behind the transfer. He’s been willing to snub other clubs and see his game time marginalised, all to get the move he wanted.
