Paul Pogba to Manchester United, what else needs to be said?

If there’s one thing this saga will be remembered for, it’ll be for ruining the meaning of ’48 hours’ and making us question whether or not final details really are ‘final’ or rather ‘preliminary details with a view to reaching the final ones in two weeks time’.

Yes, it looks like it’s being done after José Mourinho all but confirmed something would happen during his press conference, but before it actually does, we want to leave you with one final example of how vague estimations can be turned into a full article, with Corriere dello Sport on Friday providing the perfect material to do so.

The Italian newspapers go with the title “It’s a matter of hours, then the greetings in London” for a Pogba article.

“A matter of hours”, you say? Oh boy, let’s get excited! (Don’t just yet)

Obviously, Pogba to Manchester United should be announced in the near future, because after weeks of waiting, it’s bound to happen at some point, right?Pogba (last one?)

Corriere state fans should expect an announcement ‘tomorrow (Saturday), or at worst Sunday’, which means they’re covering all bases in case it’s announced a bit earlier than Pogba’s official return date from holidays.

Bear in mind their main argument here is that Manchester United are in London for the Community Shield, and Juventus are also in the English capital to play West Ham at their new stadium.

What a coincidence!

At the end of the day, this is no different to most articles in the European media throughout this ordeal: guesstimates in hope one sticks so someone can point to their article and say “I TOLD YOU SO!”

The French midfielder was meant to return to Juventus from holiday on the 7th of August, meaning an announcement before then would make little sense, especially if Manchester United wanted to ensure the player was with them, refreshed and happy to hold up the red shirt adorned with a certain number 6.

Anyway, no one seems to know when it’ll be announced, leading fans to start rocking back and forth after tweeting ‘@ManUtd announce pogba pls’ for the 65th time over the past week, but judging by Mourinho’s comments, it should be soon.

Thing is, though, imagine if, after all this, United’s big midfield signing isn’t Pogba?

Actually, please don’t. We don’t want to be held responsible for anything.
