French outlet Le10Sport today explains the situation lived by Boubacar Kamara, who’s having the final months of his contract with Marseille.

The midfielder has been an important piece at the Ligue 1 side this season, but with no signs of a contract renewal, his departure is said to be ‘only a matter of time’.

There’s of course a list of clubs who’d like to sign him for free, and Manchester United are said to be one of those pretenders.

The Red Devils are labelled as one of the clubs who’d been interested since January. However, as they’re still to appoint a new manager, they decided to wait before making any moves.

Manchester United are left as the main club in the race, because according to Le10Sport, Kamara turned down a move to Atletico Madrid, and AS Roma couldn’t afford his transfer in the January transfer window.

The report adds comments from L’Equipe which say ‘no one’ at Marseille believe the player will sign a new deal at the club, so it all points for him to become a free agent at the end of the season.

With Manchester United said to be looking for a defensive midfielder, the 22-year-old certainly shows up as an interesting and cheap option, and the situation is heating up ahead of the summer window.
