Having finally sold Fred, Manchester United could now have the funds required to make their much anticipated move for Sofyan Amrabat.

Any fan of the Red Devils that has been even remotely following their club’s transfer business this summer will know the Morocco international is a target of Erik ten Hag’s, but after a lot of expenditure, the club were trying to get some money in before putting in a bid.

This has frustrated the Italian media a bit, but La Nazione, relayed by Firenze Viola, reckon we could be nearing the end of the wait.

They explain that the ‘long-awaited bid’ for the defensive midfielder could arrive ‘in the next few hours’ after the €15m (bonuses included) sale of Fred to Fenerbahçe, and the website even go as far as saying the bid could arrive ‘today’.

It’s made clear that Rocco Commisso, Fiorentina’s owner, will ‘certainly not discount’ and will not ‘go below €25m’, but that doesn’t appear to be a problem.

La Nazione explain that the two sides ‘recently updated’ each other on their stances, and those in charge of Manchester United ‘confirmed their interest’ but ‘asked for a few more days’.

By the sound of things, we are nearing the end of that timeline, but there is another bit of information that could annoy a few, which is that the ‘assessment’ of the Amrabat situation will not take place before the first leg of Fiorentina’s Conference League qualifier, which is on August 24th.

Therefore, even if Manchester United do make their bid, they might have to wait for a response.
