Manchester United Women have ‘raised the offer’ for Barcelona forward Geyse Ferreira and are pushing strongly to sign her this summer.

That’s according to Sport, who say Manchester United Women ‘returns to the charge’ for the player and Barcelona are already assessing the latest offer.

The newspaper reports that United are eyeing Geyse as a replacement for Alessia Russo, who left the club to join Arsenal on a free transfer back in July.

Geyse is the player they have at the top of their list of priorities to do so and have promised her ‘prominence’ in the first team, alongside ‘good financial compensation’.

Barcelona had initially considered her non-transferable and even rejected a couple of offers from Manchester United at the beginning of the summer, despite Geyse’s contract being due to expire in June 2024.

However, United’s latest offer is ‘considerably higher’ than what’s been presented before and that’s led Barca to reconsider their options. They see now see a transfer ‘favourably’, although for now nothing is closed.

Manchester United Women are keen on the deal and are pushing to get it over the line as they seek out a replacement for Russo.
