Barcelona youngster Mika Faye appears to be against leaving the club in the summer, despite Chelsea, Manchester United reportedly chasing him.

That’s according to Sport, who have today rowed back on those claims and insist the youngster will be given his chance to impress in pre-season training this summer.

Reports over the last few months have increasingly linked Faye with a move away from the Camp Nou in the summer, despite only being 19 years old and yet to make his debut for Barcelona.

Manchester United have been consistently linked with a potential bid, although that’s often felt more like Barcelona and the Catalan media desperately trying to make it happen rather than it being anything serious.

That was the case amid recent reports, which even speculated Manchester United could be part of a deal that no club would actually accept anyway.

Sport have now pulled back on that somewhat, reporting that Faye will actually be a part of the Barcelona first-team’s pre-season training in the summer.

They explain that while that doesn’t rule out a move away, it does hint he’s a part of the future at the club, which is at odd with the recent reports indicating he could be sold.

The newspaper then adds that, even if bids come in, Faye ‘will always prioritise’ staying with Barcelona over ‘financially viable options’. He will still need to receive confidence from the Catalans, but his focus remains on proving himself at the Camp Nou. An exit is seemingly not in his thinking for now.

Both are a major pull-back from recent reports, which had Barcelona desperate to sell and raise some much-needed money.

Perhaps that’s a reaction to the lack of interest from clubs like Manchester United, who always seemed unlikely to bite at the deal being suggested anyway.
