It may be thought that the Dutch media would try and gloss over Daley Blind’s poor performance for Manchester United at the weekend, but perhaps that would be misleading.
De Telegraaf say that Blind ‘unintentionally found a leading role for himself’. They put the blame on the Dutchman for Kevin De Bruyne’s goals, and say that he was at fault in some way both times Manchester City got the ball in the back of the net.
On Sunday they were even harsher, with a really big article on the match which further highlighted Blind’s unfortunate role in the result.
De Telegraaf headlined their article ‘Blind helps City’, and it’s not the type of coverage the footballer would like to have in his own country.
In France, French newspaper L’Equipe were critical of Paul Pogba’s performance on Monday. They said he’d had a negative weekend, and that he struggled to impose himself in Manchester United’s midfield.
It follows on from L’Equipe saying on Sunday that Pogba’s performance had been average, comparing it to his performances for the national team.
Who needs enemies, eh?!
