Despite Besiktas’ willingness to sign Eric Bailly from Manchester United, the Turkish side were always hoping that the Ivory Coast international’s contract at Old Trafford would get terminated to facilitate the task.

There was a point when that seemed to be happening, but the latest update on the matter isn’t the best news for fans of the Red Devils who want the centre-back gone.

Turkish journalist Yağız Sabuncuoğlu is the one to provide it on Wednesday, claiming that the talks between Manchester United and Bailly have ‘hit a snag’.

While the defender was ready to leave the €1m he was due wage wise, he did ask to be paid a €700k loyalty bonus as a term to cancel his contract.

Manchester United, however, ‘do not want to give this’ to him, meaning that they seemingly want him to depart without any compensation despite him being contracted at Old Trafford until next summer.

This is an issue for Besiktas, who clearly don’t want to pay a penny to the Premier League side for Bailly’s transfer, and may have to look elsewhere to strengthen their defence.
